Or, you have a laundry list of issues, and need assistance coming up with an overall strategy... and then a list of priorities to help move you forward. Scientific Commercialization can provide a customized assessment for you. Our approach is systematic, yet flexible. Does your team have a clear identity? Can you, your team members and others in your organization succinctly and effectively communicate the purpose of your team, including how you add value to the company strategy? Having a clear strategic intent is an excellent communication tool. More importantly, it drives all the decisions that need to be made (this includes prioritization, organizational improvements, definition of success/metrics, etc). Scientific Commercialization can assist you and your team to understand what you want your organization to become and how to get there, by developing a clear, concise strategic intent that supports your company's mission and business objectives. Typically, we prefer to conduct a series of working sessions with key team members and influencers to maximize the quality and ownership of the strategic intent. In addition to its development, we work with your team to define the next steps that would enable your organization to plan and implement business in a manner that supports it. BUSINESS CASE DEVELOPMENT & PLANNING Do you have an idea or even a specific vision for an improvement or change to your organization? Translating your vision into a clear plan that stimulates constructive discussion and ultimately results in the support of your leadership, colleagues and other stakeholders can be a challenge. We can help you develop a business plan to achieve your organizational goals and objectives with specific action items to implement them. We believe that an effective business plan is comprised of clearly defined goals, market analysis, customer desires, a clearly expressed definition of success, and implications for staffing needs and cost. Performance management starts with a clear communication of a shared strategy and desired outcome. Scientific Commercialization will work with your organization to develop and implement a process that establishes a clear organizational strategy, aligns objectives and produces valuable metrics. As critical as it is to understand and embrace clear objectives, it also imperative to tie performance to motivation and reward. By having a solid performance management process that motivates your employees to achieve your strategic goals, your organization will enjoy: a clear understanding of the strategy and precisely how every role in the organization fits into that strategy, clear concise metrics that measure actual performance, and improved team and individual accountability. RESOURCE ALLOCATION & PRIORITIZATION Many times, a team may feel overwhelmed with work. Everything has to be done right away without notice... and it is all important.
Scientific Commercialization can help a team stop reacting and learn to move and operate in a more proactive mindset. First, we would want to know where energy and time is currently being spent. Second, we want the team to come to a consensus regarding the urgency and importance of the team's activities. Third, we want to ensure that those priorities are communicated to leadership and colleagues, as appropriate. We work closely with all levels of your organization to map out and understand existing processes. Based on the organization's strategy, priorities, and an understanding of how work is currently done, we help provide recommendations or options to: (a) shift some work to another team while maintaining the same timelines, (b) re-evaluate and clearly adjust some project expectations including timing and resources, (c) hire additional resources, (d) other possibilities Main Entry: 1cul-ture
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, 2005 An organization's culture is built upon a blend of it founding leaders, history, current make up of individuals, and so many other factors. While every culture is unique, one common theme is culture consists of elements that may be construed as positive or negative aspects - particular to the perspective or current environment or market which that group of individuals finds them. The culture of an organization may represent the history, business models and personal ideals and beliefs of its founders and/or predecessors. Just as societal cultures and norms gradually change in global environment, your organization may be due for a change. Current events, market drivers, your competition... or maybe just a more modern way of thought or operation may bring a clear sense of importance for a change of attitude to truly revolutionize the status quo. In a formal organization such a typical modern company, positive culture change does not usually happen naturally. Imagine your organization transformed to an organization that possess: A Culture of Compliance, A Culture of Accountability, A Culture of Strategic Execution, A Culture of Cross Team Collaboration,, A Culture of Work/Life Balance, A Culture of Creativity and Product Innovation, A Culture of... To effectively change a culture, the case must be articulated, thoroughly supported and embraced. In addition, operational and supporting processes (e.g. SOPs, compensation decision processes, etc.) may need to be revisited or modified to be reflective and supportive of these changes. Scientific Commercialization is prepared to usher your organization through this process, if you are ready and serious about this challenge. Professional coaching helps individuals improve their performance and enhance the quality of their lives. Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has. Coaching can truly benefit anyone, but here is a sampling of client profiles of who have requested and benefited from this process:
WORKSHOP & OFF-SITE FACILITATION An outside facilitator can provide numerous benefits to any meeting, workshop or off-site. Often, the mere presence of an outsider is sufficient to catalyze new behaviors and approaches. First, a professional facilitator can provide guidance and tips that will result in a more productive meeting/workshop. Second, it allows all attendees to truly participate and enjoy the event. Third, a facilitator can help to give all participants a voice... and perhaps tone down some that have a much louder one. Finally, a facilitator can really move discussion forward, clarify next steps and ensure follow up. PERSONAL & TEAM DEVELOPMENT TOOLS A number of tools can be used to help develop individuals and teams. One or all of them could be leveraged as part of the coaching process, or as part of a team or leadership development exercise. Scientific Commercialization can offer experienced and certified administration, interpretation and application of the following tools:
Too slow? Too sloppy? Broken? Outdated? Inconsistent? Overlapping with another functional area? Whatever is wrong with your process, Scientific Commercialization can partner with your team to fix it. First, we begin by the capturing the "as-is", and then work with the relevant individuals to create the "to-be". We can also provide benchmarking data that may be useful to you to understand how other companies run their processes. In addition, we can you assist you by a developing an implementation plan and materials (e.g. new SOP text, training materials, communication support/summaries, etc.) to ensure a successful adoption of the new processes. CHANGE MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATIONS There is a graphic commonly used by internal and external consultants called "The Change Curve" (Source: Unknown). This curve depicts four (4) key levels of perception: Awareness, Understanding, Buy-In & Sponsorship. The idea is that each person involved in change (leadership, change managers, agents and recipients) needs to move up the curve - from awareness to sponsorship. This embrace of the change event is being made not only feasible, but predictable when the change is managed strategically and methodically. Scientific Commercialization possesses the expertise to design, develop and deliver training in a variety of formats (e.g. theater-based, e-Learning, didactic, round table/facilitated discussion, etc.). Regulatory training will increase the effectiveness of any department within your organization (Development, Medical Affairs and Commercial) by teaching your employees the appropriate way to have a positive impact on the business. Scientific Commercialization will partner with you and your key stakeholders to develop a common understanding of the business need for regulatory training by conducting needs assessments and competency assessments to articulate and confirm the learning objectives for the intervention. Specifically, we can deliver:
Just about everyone in the industry has read the OIG Guidelines. One critical element of the OIG Guidelines is the establishment of a Compliance Committee and Compliance Program. What does that really mean? Recent happenings indicate that this is not enough to simply have a committee and program in place. Rather, it is necessary for an organization to actually be compliant!
Scientific Commercialization can help you develop, implement and sustain an effective compliance program. This will enable your organization to conduct their activities in compliance with corporate policies and applicable federal regulations and laws. We will partner with you and your key stakeholders (Regulatory, Legal, Sr. Leadership and Outside Counsel) to develop a common understanding of the business need for compliance training. The delivery of the content can be tailored and prepared in a variety of formats (e.g. e-Learning, theater-based, didactic, or a combo). We will develop a consistent, standardized training program for new hire and a modular training strategy to address the current needs of your enterprise. This may not seem like a human performance activity... but, it is. How are your company's priorities determined? In some cases viewing a pipeline of products, or even already those in development may easily be a group consensus. What if there is ambiguity? When trying to decide which products move forward, and where your resources allocated, it would be reassuring to know that the process you are using to make those decisions is systematic, logical and based on data from all functional areas (not just hunches).
Scientific Commercialization will partner with your organization to design an analytical method for prioritization of products. Recommendations for resource allocation based upon priority and business goals are then provided. The perceived value of field-based medical scientists by thought leaders has been well publicized within the academic community and to key commercial and development leaders within the pharmaceutical industry. These individuals clearly have the scientific knowledge that thought leader physicians and practitioners desire. The ability to gain access and engage in meaningful knowledge exchange is essential to achieving the 'gold standard' peer-level relationship. At Scientific Commercialization we want to support the Field Based Medical Team and the overall objective to create and deliver credible scientific knowledge in compliance with relevant federal regulations/laws. We provide consulting services for all aspects of field-based medical teams or medical science liaisons (MSLs). We can help you create a team from the ground up or optimize the performance of an existing team. REGULATORY SERVICES INFORMATION SYSTEMS Scientific Commercialization is developing a COMPENSATION ANALYSIS TOOL to meet the unique needs of Field Based Medical Teams. You have the opportunity to be involved by providing us with input. Upon its completion, you will have access to this data at no cost to you. |
